Spectrum is home to a rather large feral cat colony. What started as a few stray cats over 8 years ago grew over time to over 20 cats. We provide them food, water, and shelter year-round. Last year we took up the task of getting each of them spayed or neutered. We learned that the local SPCA would not only perform the surgery but also give a rabies vaccination for each feral cat, all at no charge. With the help of a local group called Operation Catnip, we were able to trap, take in, and return each and every cat, rescuing 10 kittens along the way and getting them into permanent or foster homes. We returned the last cat to the colony over 6 months ago, so we were suprised to se a 3 or 4 month old kitten at the colony's food bowls last week. We immediately set about trapping the little guy and searching for a home for him. After many phone calls, text messages, and Facebook posts, we found a wonderful family to take him in. We want to thank everyone who helpd us find Jet a new home: Michelle, Debbie, Pam, Gabriel, and Clair. And a big thank-you to Hannah for giving Jet his fur-ever home!
